Türkiye’s industrial output jumps 4.9% in May

Türkiye’s industrial production rose by a robust 4.9% year-on-year in May 2025, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) on Thursday, underscoring the sector’s resilience amid global economic challenges.
The surge was fueled by strong growth in key subsectors. Mining and quarrying led with a 10.0% annual increase, followed by manufacturing at 4.6%, and electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply at 4.7% compared to May 2024.
On a monthly basis, industrial production grew by 3.1% from April 2025. Mining and quarrying saw a significant 5.3% rise, manufacturing increased by 3.2%, while the electricity, gas, and steam sector remained flat.
Analysts view the data as a sign of sustained industrial recovery, bolstered by stabilizing global supply chains and rising domestic demand. The strong performance is expected to support employment and export growth, positioning the industrial sector as a cornerstone of Türkiye’s economic momentum in the second half of 2025. (ILKHA)
