Türkiye’s consumer confidence index rises to 84.3 in August

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) announced on Thursday that the consumer confidence index increased in August.
According to data from the consumer tendency survey, carried out jointly by TurkStat and the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye, the index rose from 83.5 in July to 84.3 in August, marking a 0.9% increase.
The consumer confidence index measures households’ assessments and expectations regarding their financial situation, the overall economic outlook, and spending intentions. A value below 100 reflects consumer pessimism, while readings above 100 indicate optimism.
Although the August data showed a slight improvement, the index remains well below the threshold of 100, suggesting that Turkish consumers still hold a cautious and largely negative outlook toward the economy amid ongoing challenges such as high inflation and elevated living costs. (ILKHA)
