Türkiye’s central bank reserves drop to $178.7 billion
Türkiye’s central bank reserves fell by $5.52 billion in the week to Sept. 11, central bank data showed on Thursday, with both foreign exchange and gold reserves declining.
The Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) said total reserves fell to $178.724 billion from $184.247 billion a week earlier.
Gross foreign exchange reserves declined by $1.962 billion to $68.444 billion from $70.406 billion, while gold reserves fell by $3.561 billion to $110.280 billion from $113.841 billion.
The data showed that the decline in gold holdings accounted for the larger share of the weekly drop in total reserves.
The figures were released as part of the CBRT’s weekly monetary and banking statistics.
Türkiye’s international reserves are closely watched by investors as an indicator of the central bank’s external liquidity and its capacity to meet foreign currency obligations and manage market volatility. (ILKHA)
