Yemen enforces air blockade on “Israel” as ballistic strike shuts down Ben Gurion Airport

Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) announced on Sunday the imposition of a full air blockade on “Israel,” marking a strategic turning point in the regional resistance against the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
The declaration came after a precision Yemeni missile strike struck just meters from Terminal 3 of Ben Gurion Airport, severely disrupting operations at Israeli main international gateway.
Brigadier General Yahya Saree, official spokesperson for the YAF, declared the blockade in a powerful statement: “In response to Israel’s expanding aggression and military operations in Gaza, we announce a total air blockade on the Zionist entity. Ben Gurion Airport will be the primary target of continued strikes.”
Saree warned all international airlines to immediately halt all flights to Zionist airports to ensure the safety of their aircraft and passengers, urging them to respect the air blockade now enforced by the Yemeni resistance. “The proud and free Yemen will not tolerate further Zionist crimes in Gaza nor the enemy’s aggression against Arab lands such as Lebanon and Syria. We do not fear confrontation and we refuse surrender,” Saree said.
This latest blow to the Zionist regime follows Yemen’s successful launch of a hypersonic ballistic missile targeting the occupied airport. The strike caused widespread panic, visible smoke plumes, and significant disruptions to air and rail travel in Tel Aviv. Emergency responders confirmed injuries at the scene, as the occupying entity’s missile defense systems—backed by the United States—failed spectacularly to intercept the projectile.
Yemeni sources revealed that the missile, part of a new class of advanced long-range projectiles, penetrated all Zionist and American interception attempts, including Arrow 3 and THAAD systems, exposing the vulnerability of the so-called “Iron Dome” and Western defense networks.
The strategic strike immediately triggered an international flight exodus from the occupied territories. Major global airlines—including Lufthansa, Air France, Delta, Wizz Air, British Airways, and United Airlines—suspended operations to Tel Aviv, citing safety concerns following the Yemeni missile impact near Ben Gurion Airport.
Lufthansa Group canceled all flights until May 6, rerouting operations from Frankfurt, Vienna, Zurich, and Munich. Air France, Air India, TUS Airways, and British Airways followed suit, with United Airlines halting its New York-Tel Aviv service through at least May 8, citing the “evolving security situation” and prioritizing passenger safety.
Yemen’s bold declaration and successful strike have not only shattered the myth of Zionist airspace invincibility but have also exposed the growing fragility of the regime’s ties to international travel and trade. As the global aviation sector distances itself from “Israel,” it becomes increasingly clear that Yemen’s resistance is reshaping the regional balance of power.
This latest escalation stands as a testament to Yemen’s unwavering stance alongside the Palestinian people, as it continues to strike at the heart of the occupation’s infrastructure. In the face of overwhelming odds and imperial aggression, Yemen has once again proven that the oppressed can—and will—fight back. (ILKHA)
