Venezuela foils CIA-linked plot aimed at destabilizing the country
Venezuelan authorities have dismantled a U.S.-backed intelligence network allegedly connected to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello Rondón announced Monday.
The move marks another significant step in the government’s ongoing campaign to defend national sovereignty against foreign interference.
According to Minister Cabello, three individuals were arrested in connection with a suspected false-flag operation that aimed to fabricate an incident in the Caribbean Sea. The plan, he said, sought to justify potential aggression against Venezuela amid U.S. military exercises with Trinidad and Tobago.
CIA Materials Seized During Operation
Authorities reportedly seized mobile phones, operational manuals, and other intelligence equipment belonging to the suspects, providing evidence of their direct coordination with foreign intelligence services.
“These individuals were preparing a false operation to frame Venezuela as a threat to regional peace,” Cabello stated, emphasizing that the government remains vigilant against all attempts to undermine the nation’s stability.
He added that such schemes are part of a broader campaign orchestrated from Washington, aimed at sowing chaos and justifying intervention under the guise of “defending democracy.”
Foreign Ministry Warns of U.S. Provocations
Venezuelan Foreign Affairs Minister Yván Gil revealed further details of the operation, saying the plot involved plans to attack a U.S. military vessel stationed near Trinidad and Tobago and then blame Venezuela for the incident.
“This would have been used as a pretext to justify aggression against our country,” Gil said in a statement on social media. He warned that the discovery confirms ongoing efforts to destabilize Venezuela through both external intelligence operations and internal collaborators.
Venezuela’s Response: Unity and Preparedness
Minister Cabello praised the coordination between civilian and military intelligence agencies that led to the arrests, underscoring the strength of Venezuela’s Bolivarian security doctrine.
“These events reaffirm our commitment to protecting the homeland,” he said. “We work every day to prevent harm to the Venezuelan people, and to ensure that no imperial power can threaten our sovereignty.”
Government sources indicated that the suspects will face anti-terrorism and espionage charges, and that additional arrests may follow as investigations continue.
Ongoing Imperial Hostility
The revelation comes amid rising tensions in the Caribbean, where the United States has recently expanded joint military operations under the pretext of “regional security.” Venezuelan officials have repeatedly condemned these maneuvers as provocative and destabilizing acts intended to pressure the Bolivarian Republic.
Analysts in Caracas note that the timing of this latest plot coincides with renewed U.S. political rhetoric against Venezuela’s leadership and increased efforts to isolate the country diplomatically.
Despite continued pressure, Venezuelan authorities reaffirmed that the Bolivarian Armed Forces and the people remain united and alert against all threats.
A Nation on Guard
As Venezuela continues to strengthen its defense and intelligence capabilities, the government called on citizens to remain vigilant and reject manipulation from foreign media.
“The empire may try to deceive the world,” Cabello declared, “but Venezuela stands firm—independent, sovereign, and free from the dictates of foreign powers.” (ILKHA)
