Two Palestinians killed by Israeli fire in central Hebron
Two Palestinian civilians were killed on Saturday evening after Israeli occupation forces opened fire in the Bab al-Zawiya area of central Hebron, in the southern part of the occupied West Bank, according to local medical and eyewitness sources.
Witnesses said Israeli forces fatally shot 55-year-old Ziad Naim Abu Dawood, a municipal sanitation worker, while he was carrying out his official duties in the city center. Abu Dawood was reportedly left bleeding on the ground for an extended period before Israeli forces allowed Palestinian emergency teams to access him.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society confirmed that its crews were eventually permitted to receive Abu Dawood’s body from Israeli forces and transported him to Hebron Governmental Hospital.
Eyewitnesses also reported that a second Palestinian was killed during the same incident. Israeli forces allegedly seized his body and prevented medical teams from retrieving it, a practice rights groups have previously criticized.
The incident comes amid heightened tensions and continued military operations across the occupied West Bank, where Palestinian communities have faced repeated raids, arrests, and gunfire in recent months. Local officials and human rights advocates have called for international intervention to stop what they describe as escalating violence against Palestinian civilians.
The Israeli military has not yet released an official statement regarding the incident. (ILKHA)
