Two killed, four missing in Brussels high-rise fire
Two people were killed and four others remain missing after a fire broke out in a 15-storey building undergoing renovation in central Brussels, Belgium.
The fire erupted on the second floor of the building in De Brouckere Square before rapidly spreading through an elevator shaft and igniting a second blaze in the basement, prompting a large-scale emergency response.
More than 200 workers were believed to be inside the building when the fire broke out, and firefighters launched extensive search and rescue operations after bringing the flames under control.
The Brussels Labour Prosecutor's Office said the two victims were found inside an elevator after firefighters gained access through a small opening.
Authorities said four people remain missing, with rescuers continuing to search areas that have not yet been fully accessed.
Three people were taken to hospital for treatment, while emergency crews continued recovery operations using thermal cameras and search dogs.
An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire, which remains under investigation. (ILKHA)
