Turkish President Erdoğan attends 6th European Political Community summit in Tirana

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan participated in the 6th meeting of the European Political Community (EPC) on Friday in the Albanian capital, Tirana.
The summit, hosted at the Palace of Congresses, brought together leaders from across Europe to discuss pressing regional issues, including security, energy cooperation, and geopolitical challenges.
Upon arrival at the summit venue, President Erdoğan was warmly welcomed by Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama. The two leaders proceeded together to the Opera building, where the summit’s key sessions were scheduled to take place. The EPC, established in 2022, serves as a platform for political dialogue and coordination among European nations, including both EU and non-EU countries, to address shared concerns and foster collaboration.
The summit commenced with an opening ceremony, followed by a traditional family photo session featuring President Erdoğan and other attending leaders. In a symbolic gesture, the heads of state and government signed a board adorned with the European Political Community logo, marking their commitment to the forum’s objectives.
Discussions at the 6th EPC Summit focused on critical topics such as the ongoing energy crisis, regional stability in the context of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and strengthening partnerships to address migration and climate change. Turkey, a key regional player, was expected to emphasize its role in mediating global conflicts and securing energy routes, particularly through its strategic position in the Black Sea region.
President Erdoğan’s attendance underscores Turkey’s active engagement in European political dialogues, despite its complex relationship with the European Union. The summit provided an opportunity for bilateral meetings on the sidelines, with Erdoğan likely to hold talks with counterparts on issues of mutual interest, including trade, security, and counterterrorism.
The EPC Summit in Tirana reflects the growing importance of inclusive platforms for addressing Europe’s multifaceted challenges, with leaders aiming to build consensus on actionable solutions. Further details on the outcomes of the summit are expected as discussions conclude. (ILKHA)
