Powerful 7.3 magnitude earthquake strikes south of Vanuatu

A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 struck south of Vanuatu at 1256 GMT on Thursday, as reported by the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The offshore quake, occurring at 1256 GMT, had a depth of 35 kilometers (21 miles) and was situated approximately 23 kilometers south of the town of Isangel, according to USGS data.
