Israeli occupation forces kill Palestinian civilian in West Bank
A 54-year-old Palestinian man was killed by Israeli forces during a raid in the occupied West Bank city of Al-Bireh on Tuesday, the Palestinian Health Ministry said.
The ministry identified the man as Ziad Mohammad Jaber and said he died from gunshot wounds sustained during an Israeli military raid in the Umm al-Sharayet area of Al-Bireh.
Local sources said Israeli forces entered the area early Tuesday and opened live fire, critically wounding Jaber. He was later pronounced dead after succumbing to his injuries.
Jaber's killing brings the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli gunfire in the occupied West Bank since the beginning of the year to more than 100, according to Palestinian health authorities.
Israeli forces have continued near-daily raids across the West Bank, frequently carrying out arrests and searches in Palestinian towns and refugee camps. The operations have intensified amid the wider conflict in the region and have resulted in growing Palestinian casualties.
The West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem, has seen a sharp increase in violence in recent years, with Palestinian residents facing intensified Israeli military raids, arrests and attacks by settlers.
Palestinian officials have repeatedly called on the international community to intervene to halt Israeli military operations and protect civilians in the occupied territory. (ILKHA)
