Israeli Forces intensify demolitions and shelling in Khan Younis despite ceasefire
Israeli occupation forces continued large-scale demolitions and artillery shelling in Khan Younis, in southern Gaza, amid ongoing violations of the ceasefire, local sources reported.
According to field correspondents, military bulldozers expanded the systematic destruction of residential buildings, while live fire and artillery shells were reported in the eastern neighborhoods of the city, creating renewed fear among displaced civilians sheltering in nearby areas. Witnesses said the attacks were “indiscriminate” and targeted civilian infrastructure.
In the past 48 hours, Israeli airstrikes and bombardments have struck multiple parts of the Gaza Strip, including eastern districts of Gaza City, Rafah, and the Maghazi Refugee Camp, in what Palestinian officials described as clear breaches of the ceasefire agreement that came into effect on October 11.
Medical sources reported that since the ceasefire was announced, at least 367 Palestinians have been killed, 953 wounded, and 624 bodies recovered from under the rubble, as emergency teams continue to search devastated neighborhoods.
Rescue crews and civil defense teams said their operations have been severely hindered by continued shelling and the lack of heavy equipment, fuel, and safe corridors. Hospitals in southern and central Gaza remain overwhelmed, facing critical shortages of medicines, electricity, and clean water.
International human rights organizations have expressed alarm over the renewed escalation, warning that continued demolitions and shelling pose a serious risk to civilians and could further undermine fragile ceasefire efforts.
Calls have intensified for international pressure to halt the attacks and to ensure the protection of civilians in accordance with international humanitarian law. (ILKHA)
