Iran reviews timing for next round of indirect talks with U.S.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baqaei, announced that the timing and location for the next round of indirect talks between Iran and the United States are under review, with details to be confirmed by Omani mediators.
Responding to a question from an IRNA reporter, Baqaei said no definitive date has been set, but Oman has proposed holding the discussions early next week.
The third round of indirect negotiations, mediated by Oman’s foreign minister, took place in Muscat on April 26, involving Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and the U.S. President’s special representative for Middle East affairs. A fourth round was initially scheduled for May 3 in Rome but was postponed following a suggestion from Oman, Baqaei noted on May 1. Further updates on a new date are expected soon.
Baqaei emphasized Iran’s commitment to diplomacy to secure its national interests and end economic sanctions impacting Iranian citizens. He underscored that Iran’s delegation approaches the talks in good faith, guided by a framework rooted in international law, particularly regarding the peaceful use of nuclear energy and the lifting of what Iran deems unlawful sanctions.
“Iran remains determined to pursue result-oriented discussions aimed at achieving a fair, reasonable, and sustainable agreement,” Baqaei stated, reaffirming Tehran’s steadfast approach to the negotiations.
The talks reflect ongoing efforts to address tensions over Iran’s nuclear program and U.S.-imposed sanctions, with Oman playing a key role as a neutral facilitator. (ILKHA)
