Iran executes Mossad operative linked to 2020 assassination of nuclear scientist

Iran’s judiciary announced the execution of Mohsen Langarneshin, a Mossad operative convicted of aiding Israeli intelligence operations, including the 2020 assassination of prominent Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, state media reported Wednesday.
According to Mizan, Iran’s judiciary news agency, Langarneshin was found guilty of “moharebeh” (waging war against God) and “corruption on earth” following legal proceedings, with the sentence upheld by the Supreme Court. The execution was carried out after his conviction for supporting Mossad’s activities in Iran.
Langarneshin, who began working for Israeli intelligence in October 2020 after receiving specialized training, played a key role in facilitating Mossad operations. His activities included providing logistical support, procuring communication equipment, establishing safe houses, and managing financial transactions between Israeli agents and local operatives. During his trial, he confessed to conducting surveillance on Fakhrizadeh prior to the scientist’s assassination, using a secure communication system known as “Red Windows” to coordinate with Mossad handlers.
The judiciary revealed that Langarneshin met with senior Mossad officers in Georgia and Nepal to receive operational directives, underscoring the extent of his involvement in Israeli intelligence activities within Iran. The execution marks a significant move by Iran to crack down on foreign espionage amid heightened tensions with Israel. (ILKHA)
