Hamas Spokesman Abdul Latif al-Qanou martyred in Israeli airstrike

The Israeli occupation has continued its brutal military offensive on the besieged Gaza Strip for the tenth straight day, unleashing a relentless wave of airstrikes across residential areas, killing dozens of Palestinians and injuring scores more—including many women and children.
The attacks, described by observers and rights groups as acts of collective punishment and mass killing, took place during the sacred Islamic night of Laylat al-Qadr.
According to Palestinian medical sources, Israeli warplanes pounded multiple areas across Gaza throughout the night, striking homes, displacement tents, and public spaces where civilians had sought shelter.
Entire Family Wiped Out in Northern Gaza
One of the most devastating strikes occurred in the al-Saftawi area north of Gaza City, where an Israeli missile obliterated the al-Gharbawi family home on Ahmad Yassin Street. Six members of the family, including Ashraf al-Gharbawi, his wife, and their children, were martyred in the attack.
Hamas Spokesman Assassinated in Targeted Strike
In a separate airstrike in Jabalia al-Balad, Israeli forces assassinated Abdul Latif al-Qanou, spokesperson for the Hamas Movement. Local sources confirmed that the tent in which al-Qanou was taking refuge was deliberately targeted by Israeli aircraft, killing him instantly. The strike is viewed as part of Israel’s continued policy of extrajudicial killings and political assassinations aimed at crushing Palestinian resistance.
Displacement Camps Not Spared
Displacement tents sheltering civilians were also bombarded, including one belonging to the Zarab family in the Be’er 19 area of al-Mawasi, west of Khan Yunis. Civil defense teams reported that the tent was directly hit, resulting in the martyrdom of one civilian and injuries to ten others, including at least one in critical condition.
Additional strikes were reported near Al-Quds Open University in western Gaza City, where at least one civilian was killed, and in the Qarara area north of Khan Yunis, where a residential home was bombed, leaving several injured.
Devastating Human Cost Since March 18 Offensive
Since the renewed Israeli aggression began on March 18, over 800 Palestinians have been martyred, and more than 1,660 injured, according to Gaza's Ministry of Health. Women and children make up the overwhelming majority of the victims.
This latest escalation is part of the broader Israeli genocide campaign launched on October 7, 2023, which has so far resulted in over 163,000 Palestinians killed or wounded. More than 11,000 remain missing, with many believed to be buried beneath the rubble of their destroyed homes.
As airstrikes continue with impunity, humanitarian agencies warn of an unfolding catastrophe in Gaza, where food, water, and medical supplies remain scarce under the suffocating blockade. Despite mounting international outrage, the occupation persists in its attacks, defying global calls for a ceasefire and accountability.
Palestinian officials and human rights organizations have called on the international community to immediately intervene to halt the bloodshed and hold the Israeli regime accountable for war crimes and crimes against humanity. (ILKHA)
