Five killed in cargo plane crash near Mogadishu

A tragic accident occurred on Saturday evening when a cargo aircraft crashed in southwestern Somalia, killing all five people on board.
The Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) confirmed that the DHC-5D Buffalo, registered as 5Y-RBA, went down at approximately 5:43 p.m. local time (1443 GMT), roughly 24 kilometers southwest of Mogadishu.
The plane, operated by Kenya-based Trident Aviation Ltd., had taken off from Dhobley, a key border town, and was en route to Aden Abdulle International Airport in Mogadishu when the crash occurred. The SCAA reported that government agencies and partners are currently at the site conducting search and rescue operations, though no survivors have been found.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the crash but assured the public that an investigation is underway. "Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of those affected," the SCAA said in a statement, promising further updates as more details emerge. (ILKHA)
