Eight NATO members announce $500 Million military support for Ukraine
Eight NATO member countries have jointly pledged $500 million in military aid to Ukraine, aiming to strengthen Kyiv’s defense capabilities amid ongoing conflict.
According to NATO’s statement, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, and Sweden will contribute to a joint package under the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL). The program involves supplying U.S.-sourced weapons and equipment to meet Ukraine’s most urgent needs.
The NATO statement emphasized that the coordinated effort will allow Ukraine to access critical military systems, including ammunition, defensive equipment, and other essential supplies. The initiative also ensures streamlined delivery and logistical support through NATO mechanisms.
Officials highlighted that this support comes at a crucial moment as Ukraine enters the winter season, with PURL enabling member states to respond efficiently to Kyiv’s prioritized requests. NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg described the initiative as “a significant step in maintaining Ukraine’s defense capabilities and ensuring the alliance’s solidarity.”
The joint package reflects NATO’s ongoing commitment to providing structured and predictable military assistance to Ukraine, complementing earlier pledges from individual allies and reinforcing collective security in Europe.(ILKHA)
