Death toll soars in Gaza: Over 200 killed in latest Israeli airstrikes

Gaza is bleeding under Israel’s unrelenting bombardment — at least 202 Palestinians, many of them women and children, have been killed and over 1,000 wounded in just 48 hours, as the siege on the strip turns increasingly catastrophic.
Since Israel launched its brutal assault in October 2023, the Palestinian death toll has soared to 55,908, with more than 131,000 injured — the vast majority being women and children. These figures highlight the devastating toll of an unrelenting military onslaught that has flattened neighborhoods, overwhelmed hospitals, and targeted civilians with impunity.
Following a two-month ceasefire, Israel resumed its attacks on March 18, leading to a new wave of massacres that has already claimed 5,599 more lives and left 19,097 injured. Emergency crews are often unable to reach victims buried under rubble or lying in the streets, as Israeli forces reportedly continue to target ambulances and civil defense teams.
This violence persists despite urgent appeals from the United Nations Security Council for an immediate ceasefire and binding rulings from the International Court of Justice mandating Israel to prevent acts of genocide and ease the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Gaza.
Palestinians and human rights defenders worldwide are calling for stronger international action to halt what many are condemning as a deliberate and systematic attempt to erase a people under the guise of warfare. (ILKHA)
