Al Jazeera reporter arrested by Palestinian Authority security forces in Jenin

Al Jazeera news network reported that Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces have arrested one of its reporters, Mohamed al-Atrash, after preventing him from covering the Israeli military operation in Jenin City and its refugee camp.
The Qatar-based news network announced on Thursday that al-Atrash was taken from his home in al-Khalil City at dawn. Earlier in the day, PA security forces had barred him from reporting on the large-scale Israeli military operation in Jenin.
Al Jazeera noted that the PA security services had already initiated their own crackdown on the Palestinian resistance in Jenin late last year. Al-Atrash has recently faced incitement from officials within the Fatah Movement and PA security services due to his coverage of the recent PA security campaign and its violations in Jenin.
The PA, which partially governs the occupied West Bank and maintains security ties with Israel, has recently banned Al Jazeera from operating in the area and blocked access to several of the network’s websites. The PA justified the ban, citing "incitement material, misinformation, sedition, and interference in Palestinian internal affairs." (ILKHA)
