Türkiye, Russia to hold deputy foreign minister-level talks on Middle East in Istanbul

Türkiye and Russia will hold high-level diplomatic consultations on Friday in Istanbul to address pressing developments in the Middle East, Turkish diplomatic sources confirmed on Thursday.
The talks, which will take place at the level of deputy foreign ministers, will bring together Türkiye’s Deputy Foreign Minister Nuh Yılmaz and Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Envoy for the Middle East and Africa, Mikhail Bogdanov.
According to sources, the consultations will feature a broad exchange of views on a range of regional issues, with a particular focus on the ongoing crises in Syria and Palestine.
“These talks reflect Türkiye’s commitment to close coordination with Russia on key developments in the Middle East,” the sources noted, underlining the strategic importance Ankara places on regional stability and diplomatic dialogue.
The meeting in Istanbul comes amid intensified international attention on the humanitarian situation in Gaza and renewed discussions over the future of Syria. Both Ankara and Moscow have played influential roles in the region and are seen as key stakeholders in shaping diplomatic pathways forward.
The outcome of Friday’s consultations could help inform joint positions and deepen cooperation on a range of diplomatic and security concerns across the region. (ILKHA)
