President Erdoğan to attend “Gaza Summit” in Egypt

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will travel to Egypt on Monday to participate in the “Gaza Summit”, a major international gathering aimed at solidifying the ceasefire in Gaza and laying the groundwork for lasting peace and stability in the region.
The high-level meeting, scheduled for October 13 in Sharm el-Sheikh, is being hosted by Egypt and will bring together leaders from more than 20 countries, including U.S. President Donald Trump, to discuss efforts to end the war in Gaza and ensure long-term regional security.
According to diplomatic sources, the summit will address key issues related to the implementation and permanence of the Gaza ceasefire, the advancement of a comprehensive prisoner exchange, and the safe and unrestricted flow of humanitarian aid to the devastated territory.
The meeting comes at a critical moment, as the international community seeks to transform the current cessation of hostilities into a sustainable peace process, supported by regional and global actors.
Following intensive mediation efforts in Egypt, both the Israeli occupation regime and the Palestinian resistance movement HAMAS agreed on October 9 to the first phase of a ceasefire plan.
Under the terms of the agreement, the occupation forces withdrew from the Gaza Strip, and a truce officially took effect at 12:00 p.m. on October 10, bringing an end to months of relentless bombardment and destruction.
President Erdoğan’s participation in the summit reflects Türkiye’s active diplomatic engagement in the Palestinian issue and its consistent calls for a just and permanent peace based on the full liberation of Palestinian lands and the protection of civilian lives.
Ankara has repeatedly emphasized that a true resolution can only be achieved through an end to the occupation, the reconstruction of Gaza, and the recognition of the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights.
The Sharm el-Sheikh summit is expected to serve as a turning point for regional diplomacy, aligning international efforts to consolidate the ceasefire and initiate post-war reconstruction.
Leaders attending the event are expected to issue a joint declaration reaffirming their commitment to peace, stability, and humanitarian solidarity with the people of Gaza—marking a significant step toward ending one of the region’s most devastating conflicts in recent history. (ILKHA)
