Mawlid al-Nabi celebrations begin in Şırnak with message of resistance and prophetic love

The Prophet’s Lovers Foundation has officially launched this year’s Mawlid al-Nabi commemorations under the theme “Resistance Guide Prophet Muhammad”, as part of their ongoing initiative titled “Understanding the Prophet and Living His Sunnah.”
The inaugural event was held in the Cizre district of Şırnak at the Ismail Abul-iz Al-Jazari Suspension Bridge Amphitheatre.
The gathering drew hundreds of attendees, including HÜDA PAR Deputy Chairman and MP Şahzade Demir, who delivered a passionate speech emphasizing the centrality of the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) life and teachings to Islamic identity and cultural preservation.
In his address, Demir criticized the spread of entertainment-focused events that are alien to local values and warned against cultural practices imposed by foreign ideologies. “If what we call culture does not reflect our ancient history, our beliefs, and the price our society has paid over generations, then it has no real connection to culture,” he stated.
Demir lauded the Mawlid program as a revival of Islamic consciousness and values. “Here, we witness the love of the Prophet that unites the beloved Kurdish nation, the Anatolian people, our 1,400-year-old Islamic heritage, our poets, scholars, and wise men,” he said.
The HÜDA PAR MP emphasized that removing the love of the Prophet from society is tantamount to removing Islam itself. Citing the words of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), who described the Prophet as “the walking Qur’an,” Demir declared: “When you remove the Messenger of Allah from society, you remove the Qur’an; you remove Islam.”
He went on to claim that efforts to erase prophetic love from public life have long been led by “secularists, Kemalists, and nationalists” from both Eastern and Western spheres, but asserted these efforts had ultimately failed.
Demir called on parents and educators to center the life of the Prophet in the upbringing of future generations. “If we want a future rooted in justice, peace, and dignity, we must invest in the love of the Prophet. His example must guide the lives of our children,” he said.
He warned against the growing trend of trying to separate Islamic values from education and societal structures, stating that “civilisation and humanity collapse” in the absence of prophetic guidance.
The event concluded with a renewed emphasis on the importance of unity based on the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and participants expressed hope for continued public displays of love and respect through similar gatherings throughout Türkiye. (ILKHA)
