Kurdish scholars reaffirm unyielding solidarity with Gaza’s resistance

Religious leaders from the Kurdistan regions emphasize the Ummah’s moral duty to resist oppression, protect Gaza, and revive Islamic family values.
As the brutal Israeli attacks on Gaza continue unabated, Muslim scholars have issued strong warnings against what they describe as a global assault on the moral foundations of Muslim societies — especially the family institution and the youth.
Speaking during the 10th Scholars Gathering organized by ITTIHADUL ULEMA in Diyarbakır, Türkiye, scholars from various parts of the Kurdistan regions urged Muslim communities to strengthen unity, support the Palestinian cause, and confront the ideological and moral corruption being spread by hostile powers.
The meeting centered on three themes: the ongoing crisis in Gaza following the so-called ceasefire, the defense of the Muslim family structure under ideological attack, and the revival of the next generation in accordance with Islamic teachings.
Sayyid Khalid Haydari: “Gaza Stood Firm with the Support of the Muslim Ummah”
Participating from the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, Sayyid Khalid Haydari praised the steadfastness of Gaza’s people, describing them as a “resilient and proud nation that never bows to oppression.”
“The people of Gaza, with the support of the Muslim Ummah, have stood tall against the enemy and did not bow,” he said. “The entire Islamic world has united in voice on the issue of Gaza, yet it is deeply painful that Islamic governments have not taken the decisive steps needed to confront the Zionists and stop the bloodshed. Muslim states should have acted more courageously and more forcefully.”
Haydari emphasized the remarkable popular support shown across Muslim lands — particularly among Kurdish communities — who, he said, “gave great aid and solidarity to Gaza despite their own struggles.”
He further commended Türkiye’s efforts to mediate and promote peace, saying: “Türkiye has made significant contributions toward establishing calm and has exerted sincere efforts for the sake of Gaza’s peace. Gaza will never fall — Gaza will prevail.”
Sayyid Mustafa Hatemi: “Guiding Youth to the Path of Allah is the Duty of the Ulema”
Sayyid Mustafa Hatemi from Iranian Kurdistan described the Gaza cause as an existential and faith-based matter for Muslims, expressing gratitude that the issue was given prominence during the scholars’ gathering.
“The issue of Gaza will never fade away, and Muslims will never abandon Gaza,” he declared. “The Al-Aqsa Flood has revived the Palestinian issue in the hearts of Muslims, reminding them that they must support Gaza, the resistance, and the mujahideen with their words, their actions, and their pens.”
Hatemi prayed for divine justice against the oppressors: “Allah will destroy the plots of Netanyahu, Trump, and their Western allies. May He grant the believers the honor of praying in congregation once again in Bayt al-Maqdis, Gaza, and all of Palestine.”
He also warned of the ideological war targeting Muslim youth through the media and digital platforms: “The enemies are attempting to corrupt our faith within our families. They seek to weaken belief and distance our youth from the path of Allah and His Messenger. It is the duty of the ulema, the preachers, and all who take the pulpit to redirect the young back toward divine truth. Establishing families rooted in the Qur’an and Sunnah is among the greatest responsibilities of the scholars.”
Dr. Luqman Jamii: “Scholars Must Encourage Greater Aid for Gaza”
Dr. Luqman Jamii, President of the Shafi’i Association for Teaching Qur’anic and Islamic Sciences in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, stressed that the Palestinian struggle is not merely a regional issue but a moral and humanitarian obligation for all Muslims and people of conscience.
“The issue of Gaza and Palestine is not only a Palestinian matter — it is a matter of defense for all humanity,” he said. “It is about standing up for the oppressed against tyranny and protecting the sanctity of Jerusalem, the first Qiblah of Muslims.”
Dr. Jamii underscored the importance of unity among Islamic scholars and societies, adding: “Just as we must protect our own Kurdish people from injustice, we must also continue to stand by the people of Gaza. One of the essential duties of scholars is to encourage benefactors to increase their charity and aid, helping to alleviate the immense suffering endured by Gaza’s civilians.”
“An Ethical, Spiritual, and Human Duty”
The scholars collectively emphasized that the defense of Gaza and the protection of Muslim family values are inseparable struggles — both integral to preserving the Ummah’s identity and faith. They warned that while bombs destroy Gaza’s buildings, media and cultural attacks aim to destroy the spiritual foundations of Muslim societies.
Their message was clear: the revival of the Ummah begins in the home, is guided by the ulema, and is fulfilled through steadfast support for the oppressed.
“As long as there are believers who live by the Qur’an and Sunnah,” one scholar said, “neither Gaza nor the Muslim family will ever fall.” (ILKHA)
