4.9-magnitude earthquake hits Kütahya province in Türkiye; no injuries reported
4.9-magnitude earthquake struck the Simav district of Türkiye’s western Kütahya province in the early hours of Thursday, according to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
The tremor occurred at 02:54 a.m., at a depth of 12.1 kilometers, with the epicenter located in Simav (latitude 39.23917, longitude 29.0175).
So far, no casualties or property damage have been reported. Local authorities have urged residents to remain cautious against possible aftershocks and to follow safety instructions issued by AFAD and municipal teams.
The quake was felt in neighboring provinces, causing brief concern among residents who left their homes during the shaking. Emergency response teams continue to monitor the region.(ILKHA)
