44 irregular migrants rescued off Muğla coast

Turkish Coast Guard teams rescued 44 irregular migrants in two separate operations off the coasts of Marmaris and Datça districts in Muğla, authorities reported.
The migrants were allegedly pushed into Turkish territorial waters by Greek elements.
In the first operation, 21 migrants were found aboard two life rafts off the coast of Marmaris. During the rescue, a suspect accused of migrant smuggling was detained by the Coast Guard.
In a second operation off the Datça coast, 23 migrants were rescued from a rubber boat, also reportedly pushed back by Greek forces.
All rescued migrants were transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management for processing after the operations were completed. The detained suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
Authorities have not released further details about the suspect or the migrants’ countries of origin. The Turkish Coast Guard continues to monitor the region amid ongoing tensions over migrant pushbacks in the Aegean Sea. (ILKHA)
